Epic Charging Acquires Bluedot Technologies To Build End-To-End EV Fleet Charging Platform

Epic Charging has acquired Bluedot Technologies, a Palo Alto-based EV fleet charging management and payment platform that provides access to more than 80% of the nation’s public charging ports. The deal, completed on May 1, includes all of Bluedot’s branding, platform technology, intellectual property, customer contracts, and key team members. Bluedot will continue operating as a separate brand under Epic Charging, with its team transitioning to Epic as part of the transaction.

Founded by Ferhat Babacan and Selinay Parlak — both named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list for Manufacturing and Industry in 2024 — Bluedot was designed as a single automated payment solution for EV fleet drivers, eliminating the need for multiple apps or cards across different charging networks. The platform offered real-time telematics integration, intelligent route optimization, fraud-prevention tools, and IRS-compliant home charging reimbursement, attracting key customers such as Rivian, Hertz, Vay, and the City of San Francisco. The company raised more than $5 million from investors, including Axel Springer and Porsche, now Heartfelt, and Ford Driventure, after graduating from Y Combinator in 2023.

The combined entity creates what Epic said is a unique end-to-end offering in the market: an OCPP management platform providing the full EV charging value chain for fleet drivers by enabling them to find, charge, and pay across more than 80% of all charging networks in the U.S. Epic plans to use the acquisition to accelerate development of Charge OptimAIzer, an AI-powered energy management system that will use Bluedot’s fleet data and telematics capabilities to intelligently orchestrate the EV charging process. Epic-powered charging networks will also become available through the Bluedot app, giving fleet drivers direct access to a complete EV charging ecosystem.

KEY QUOTES:

“We built Bluedot to solve real pain points in EV charging management, and joining Epic Charging gives our platform the scale and resources to reach the customers who need it most. This is the right next chapter for the technology and for our team.”

Ferhat Babacan, Co-Founder, Bluedot Technologies

“Every charger operator is asking the same question. How do we get more sessions at our sites? Bluedot answers that. Fleet drivers using Bluedot can now discover and charge at Epic-powered sites across the country, which means the operators and site hosts running on Epic benefit from real, sustained demand from one of the fastest-growing segments in EV charging.”
