Equal AI has secured $30 million in Series B funding in tranches, with the round co-led by Prosus Ventures and Tomales Bay Capital.

The company said the financing will support its vision of building a comprehensive AI assistant platform for India. Founded by Keshav Reddy, Equal AI initially launched as India’s first AI call assistant and has rapidly evolved into one of the country’s largest consumer AI voice products.

According to the company, more than 1 million Indians use Equal AI every month, with over 350,000 daily active users, less than a year after launch.

Equal AI plans to expand its capabilities beyond communications into concierge services, shopping and commerce, financial services, and broader lifestyle assistance. The company aims to create an AI layer that resides on smartphones and acts on behalf of users.

In addition to Prosus Ventures and Tomales Bay Capital, the financing attracted participation from existing and new investors including Think Investments, PhonePe CEO Sameer Nigam, Valiant Capital Management, Bharti Airtel Vice Chairman Zubin Bharti Mittal, Skyflow CEO Anshu Sharma, Meta India Vice President Sandhya Devanathan, and CtrlS Datacenters founder Sridhar Pinnapureddy.

The company said its platform is designed to understand users, communicate in multiple languages, protect their time, and help them navigate everyday activities.
