Ernst & Young (EY US) has launched EY.ai Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC), an AI-native software development framework built in collaboration with 8090, aimed at transforming how enterprises design, build, and deploy software. The new platform replaces traditional, linear development processes with a dynamic, AI-driven model that significantly reduces development timelines, costs, and failure rates.
Powered by 8090’s Software Factory platform, EY.ai PDLC enables organizations to move from concept to production-ready software in days or weeks rather than months. The system integrates AI agents across the entire software lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, coding, testing, infrastructure, and operations, while maintaining human oversight. This “collaborative mesh” approach is intended to eliminate siloed workflows and improve speed, quality, and security simultaneously.
According to EY, internal use cases show that the platform can increase software development productivity and cost efficiency by 70% while accelerating delivery speeds by up to 80 times. The framework also emphasizes quality, achieving more than 95% automated test coverage and continuous validation.
EY plans to deploy EY.ai PDLC to tens of thousands of consultants across its U.S. operations, supporting both internal engineering teams and client engagements. The platform is designed to address key enterprise challenges, including legacy system modernization and new product development. It enables organizations to reduce technical debt, retire outdated systems, and build new software products with improved governance and consistency.
The initiative is part of EY’s broader push toward AI-native enterprise solutions and follows the company’s earlier rollout of EY.ai Value Blueprints. EY also noted that the PDLC framework is designed as an open ecosystem, with 8090 as a founding partner and additional technology partners expected to join over time.
8090’s Software Factory platform underpins the solution by orchestrating multiple AI models to ensure that generated code is consistent, documented, and maintainable, addressing limitations commonly associated with standalone AI coding tools.
KEY QUOTES
“EY.ai PDLC is compressing months-long roadmaps into a few days with greater accuracy, empowering technology teams to offload manual tasks and focus on high-level strategy. Leveraging 8090’s platform, we are moving beyond just code and prototypes to deliver complete, commercial-grade products at pace. This approach is not just about raising efficiency; it’s about raising the ceiling of what’s possible.”
Colm Sparks-Austin, EY Americas Technology Consulting Leader
“For 50 years, we’ve watched the same cycle repeat. A company initially writes their own software, then outsources it to a commercial vendor, then offshores the maintenance of that system, all while costs keep rising and quality keeps falling. We built Software Factory to solve this problem, and we’re excited to scale its impact globally with the EY organization’s deep customer relationships and business experience.”
