eTip Acquires Shiny Solutions To Expand Hospitality Technology Offering

By Amit Chowdhry ● Mar 17, 2026

eTip, a digital tipping and workforce engagement platform for the hospitality and service industries, announced it has acquired Shiny Solutions Inc., a workforce technology provider offering tools across employee engagement, recruitment, scheduling, and performance recognition.

The acquisition expands eTip’s platform beyond its core digital tipping and gratuity management capabilities into a broader workforce optimization solution. By integrating Shiny’s modules, eTip aims to help hospitality operators improve employee retention, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction.

Labor remains one of the largest and most volatile cost centers in hospitality, often accounting for more than 40–50 percent of total operating spend. High frontline turnover drives recurring recruitment and training costs while negatively impacting service consistency. The combined platform is designed to address these challenges by improving workforce engagement and financial transparency for employees.

eTip’s platform enables operators to digitize and manage gratuities while providing frontline staff with real-time earnings visibility. According to the company, improved financial transparency correlates with higher employee satisfaction, engagement, and tenure. With the addition of Shiny’s capabilities, the platform will now include recruitment workflows, scheduling optimization, and performance-based incentives.

The combined offering also introduces enhanced analytics through eTip AI, providing real-time insights into workforce engagement, tipping behavior, and performance trends. These insights are intended to support data-driven decisions that improve retention, productivity, and the guest experience.

From an operational standpoint, the platform is expected to deliver several benefits, including reduced turnover costs, increased workforce productivity, improved guest satisfaction and Net Promoter Scores, and enhanced visibility into engagement and performance metrics. New SaaS tools for scheduling, recruitment, and incentive management will also integrate with existing tipping workflows.

As part of the transaction, Shiny Co-Founder and CEO Rebecca Robinson will join eTip as Head of Strategic Initiatives, overseeing integration efforts and the global rollout.

eTip serves thousands of hospitality partners across hotels, food service, and related industries, and the acquisition further positions the company as a comprehensive platform for digital tipping and workforce engagement.
