Eversheds Sutherland has expanded its global litigation and disputes capabilities with the addition of two senior lawyers from DLA Piper, strengthening the firm’s cross-border disputes and regulatory expertise in Europe.
The firm announced that Michiel Coenraads has joined as a partner in the Netherlands, while Teresa Hitchcock has joined as a senior consultant in the firm’s UK Environment, Health & Safety team.
Coenraads brings more than twenty years of experience advising on complex international disputes. His practice focuses on international arbitration and corporate litigation, including matters involving ESG-related claims. He previously headed the international arbitration practice at DLA Piper’s Amsterdam office and has handled proceedings across multiple jurisdictions and arbitration regimes.
His work often involves disputes in sectors such as energy, natural resources and industrials. In addition to acting as counsel, he also sits as an arbitrator and serves as a deputy judge. Coenraads has been ranked in Chambers and Legal 500 for litigation and international arbitration.
Hitchcock joins the firm’s UK regulatory and disputes team with extensive experience in environmental, product stewardship, food safety and health and safety matters. Over the course of her career she has advised both major corporates and public bodies, and previously held senior regulatory roles in local government.
Her practice includes advising on issues such as contaminated land, climate change compliance, regeneration projects, food and product safety regulation and cross-border compliance matters. She is recognized across four Chambers UK practice areas, including Band 1 for Planning & Environment.
Eversheds Sutherland said the appointments reflect the firm’s continued investment in strengthening its global litigation and dispute management practice across key jurisdictions, while expanding its specialist regulatory capabilities in the UK and complex commercial disputes expertise in continental Europe.
