Exclaim Robotics has emerged from stealth with a $5 million pre-seed round to develop robots that can autonomously maintain AI data centers. Founderful and Playfair co-led the financing as Exclaim builds its initial robotic systems and assembles its engineering team.
Helen Oleynikova founded the company after identifying data centers as a promising commercial application for robotics through earlier work and collaboration at Microsoft.
Exclaim is targeting a rapidly changing physical infrastructure environment in which AI computing is increasing rack power densities and introducing new cooling and electrical requirements.
Among the changes Oleynikova highlighted is the expected transition toward 800-volt direct-current architectures in next-generation AI racks, alongside increasingly sophisticated liquid-cooling systems.
Those technologies can create additional maintenance complexity and safety considerations inside facilities that are expected to operate with extremely high uptime.
Exclaim’s thesis is that robotic systems can eventually perform some of the inspection, maintenance, and operational work required within these environments while reducing human exposure to potentially hazardous infrastructure.
The company remains at an early stage. Exclaim is moving into dedicated facilities, ordering robotic arms, and recruiting engineering talent, including robotics hardware and machine learning specialists.
