Expedia Group announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire CarTrawler, advancing its strategy to build a more comprehensive B2B travel platform spanning lodging, activities, car rentals, ground transportation, and Insurtech services.
Based in Ireland, CarTrawler operates a B2B platform focused on car rental, ground transport, and Insurtech solutions for the global travel industry. The company connects more than 550 car rental suppliers and over 500 mobility suppliers with more than 300 travel brands worldwide, including over 70 airlines.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Expedia Group’s B2B capabilities by expanding access to mobility and ancillary travel services for both partners and travelers. Expedia Group said the combination of CarTrawler’s specialized platform and supplier relationships with Expedia’s scale, technology infrastructure, and distribution network will create additional growth opportunities across the travel ecosystem.
According to the companies, supply partners will gain access to broader global demand through Expedia Group’s network, while B2B demand partners will receive expanded access to car rental, ground transport, and Insurtech inventory at competitive pricing along with technology integrations designed to fit existing travel platforms. Travelers booking through Expedia Group consumer brands or B2B partners are expected to benefit from a wider range of transportation and insurance options.
The acquisition also builds on Expedia Group’s broader B2B expansion strategy. The company noted that its acquisition of Tiqets previously expanded its activities offering, while the addition of CarTrawler extends the company’s capabilities into mobility and travel protection solutions.
The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close during the second half of 2026.
Founded in Dublin, CarTrawler serves travel brands including Ryanair, American Airlines, Air France-KLM, Uber, easyJet, eDreams ODIGEO, and American Express. The company operates offices in Paris, London, New York, and Sydney and employs more than 300 specialists focused on travel technology, data science, machine learning, and dynamic pricing solutions.
