Expertise AI Raises $3.2 Million Seed Round To Expand AI Sales And Customer Support Agents For Traditional Industries

Expertise AI has raised $3.2 million in seed funding to expand its AI agent platform for sales and customer support, with the company focusing on bringing AI automation to businesses in traditional industries. The round was led by UpHonest Capital, with participation from Amino, Welight, UpScaleX, and Altair, according to an announcement from Expertise AI founder and CEO Hao Sheng.

Expertise AI is developing AI agents that can interact with customers while understanding how an individual business actually operates.

Rather than focusing solely on giving companies access to generative AI, Expertise AI is attempting to solve the more difficult problem of providing AI systems with the business-specific knowledge required to operate effectively in real-world workflows.

Sheng said the company’s experience working with customers has demonstrated that simply providing access to AI is relatively easy. The larger challenge is ensuring that AI knows how a particular company works, has access to the correct information and understands when a task should be handed to a human employee.

That approach is particularly relevant in sales and customer service, where AI agents may need to understand products, internal processes, policies and customer histories rather than relying solely on general-purpose model knowledge.

Expertise AI plans to use the seed financing to bring its technology to more companies and help customers integrate AI into existing ways of working.

The company is also expanding its organization and is actively hiring across AI research, engineering, product development, sales, and operations.

The financing gives Expertise AI additional resources as businesses increasingly evaluate how autonomous AI agents can perform customer-facing functions while still allowing humans to intervene when required.

KEY QUOTES:

“Working with these companies has taught us something simple: getting access to AI is easy. Figuring out how it should actually help people day to day is much harder.”

“For us, that means teaching the AI how the business works and giving it the right information. It also means being clear about when a human should take over.”
