Expo announced it has raised a $45 million Series B round led by Georgian, alongside additional partners, as the company accelerates its roadmap to expand app development capabilities and invest in AI-driven tooling.

According to co-founder Charlie Cheever, the company selected Georgian due to its experience supporting developer infrastructure companies such as Replit, Render, and Dagster.

Expo emphasized that the funding was not a necessity for sustaining operations, as the company has already been profitable. Instead, the capital will be used to accelerate product development, expand engineering hiring, and meet increasing demand from developers building applications on the platform.

The company highlighted a growing opportunity to improve how applications are built, particularly as AI introduces new workflows and expands access to software creation beyond traditional developers. Expo plans to invest in tools that make app development faster, more accessible, and closer to users’ intended vision.

The funding will also support the development of new features and capabilities, including those related to Expo Agent and broader AI integrations, as the company seeks to redefine how applications are created and deployed.
