Facebook VP of Messenger Stan Chudnovsky announced that a new Messenger Desktop app for group video calls and chats has launched for Windows and Mac. The app is available for download via the Microsoft Store and Mac App Store. Facebook Messenger for the desktop also includes a dark mode and support for GIFs.
“Now more than ever, people are using technology to stay in touch with the people they care about, even when physically apart. Over the past month, we saw more than a 100% increase in people using their desktop browser for audio and video calling on Messenger. Now with apps for MacOS and Windows, the best of Messenger is coming to desktop, including unlimited and free group video calls,” wrote Chudnovsky.
The highlights of the app include group video calls on a larger screen and an easy to connect feature since all your Facebook friends have Messenger. The chats are easily accessible and you can easily pop in and out while doing other things on the computer. You can also receive notifications for new messages while still having the ability to mute and snooze notifications.
