Facilitron: Acquisition Of Facilities Software Firm MC²

By Amit Chowdhry • Feb 25, 2026

Facilitron announced it has acquired Management and Communication Consultants (MC²), a facilities software and consulting firm that has served school districts since the early 1980s, as the public spaces facility management platform expands its national footprint and deepens its role in facilities governance, maintenance, and lifecycle oversight.

The transaction brings MC²’s long-standing district partners into the Facilitron ecosystem, further positioning the company as centralized operating infrastructure for public school facilities. Facilitron said the acquisition supports its broader effort to modernize legacy systems across the public facilities sector while maintaining established institutional relationships.

A core component of the integration will be Facilitron Works, the company’s maintenance and asset lifecycle management platform. Works connects work orders, preventive maintenance, inspections, deferred maintenance planning, asset tracking, reporting, and operational oversight within a unified digital environment. MC²’s customer base will transition onto Facilitron Works, enabling real-time operational visibility and long-term capital planning within a scalable system.

Founded more than 4 decades ago, MC² built its reputation through deferred-maintenance planning systems and facilities consulting services. Facilitron said MC²’s focus on disciplined asset stewardship and long-term planning aligns with its mission to modernize how districts manage shared public infrastructure. By consolidating capabilities into a single digital system of record, districts are expected to gain greater transparency, operational consistency, and lifecycle intelligence across their facility portfolios.

MC² founder Perry Shimanoff will work with Facilitron during the transition to support customer continuity and preserve the firm’s legacy relationships. The acquisition agreement was finalized on December 9, 2025, with customer transitions planned through July 1, 2026.

Facilitron, headquartered in Los Gatos, California, operates what it describes as the world’s largest public spaces rental marketplace and a platform for facility governance and management. Since 2014, the company has built a national partner network of more than 15,000 schools across 31 states, including eight of the 10 largest school districts, along with higher education institutions and municipalities. Its platform integrates scheduling, maintenance, compliance, inspections, and financial workflows to support the full lifecycle management of public facilities.

KEY QUOTE:

“This acquisition reflects our continued growth strategy and our belief that the future of school facilities management is unified, not fragmented. MC² built deep trust in this community over many years. By bringing those districts into Facilitron Works, we’re preserving that legacy while modernizing the infrastructure that supports it.”
