FactSet has appointed Marcel Prins to its board of directors, adding an executive with more than 25 years of experience across technology, operations, and asset management.
Prins previously served as Chief Operating Officer and a director of Robeco, the Netherlands-based global investment manager, from 2022 to 2026. His appointment comes as FactSet continues expanding its artificial intelligence capabilities and financial data platform.
During his tenure at Robeco, Prins led major technology and operational initiatives intended to modernize the investment manager’s infrastructure.
His responsibilities included developing and executing a multiyear technology strategy, introducing a modern data platform, strengthening data governance, and improving operational resilience.
These initiatives formed part of Robeco’s broader digital transformation, which involved integrating technology more extensively into its investment management operations.
Before joining Robeco, Prins spent more than a decade at APG, one of the Netherlands’ major pension investment organizations.
He initially served as Chief Operating Officer and a director of APG Asset Management.
He subsequently expanded his responsibilities to include serving as Chief Digital Officer of APG Group.
Those positions gave him experience managing technology and operational systems supporting institutional investment activities.
Earlier in his career, Prins held positions at ABN AMRO Group, Fortis Bank, and DCE International.
His professional background spans banking, investment management, digital transformation, and enterprise technology.
At FactSet, Prins will bring that experience to a company providing financial data, analytics, and software to investment professionals and financial institutions.
FactSet’s platform integrates proprietary financial information, third-party data, and technology designed to support investment research, portfolio management, risk analysis, and other financial workflows.
The company is also expanding its use of artificial intelligence and advanced data connectivity to help customers work more efficiently with complex financial information.
Prins’ experience developing data platforms and overseeing technology transformation at major asset managers is relevant to these initiatives.
His appointment adds the perspective of an executive who has managed technology infrastructure and data operations within organizations that rely on financial information to support their investment activities.
Prins currently serves on the boards of ABN AMRO Clearing Bank and Mondu Financial Services, alongside his new position at FactSet.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
