Fairbanks Morse Defense To Buy Truflo Marine From IMI In Strategic Expansion

Fairbanks Morse Defense has agreed to acquire Truflo Marine from IMI plc, marking a significant addition to the company’s expanding portfolio of naval technology, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities. The Birmingham-based Truflo Marine business will bring a specialized suite of advanced valve and control solutions that support mission-critical systems used across allied naval submarine and surface vessels worldwide.

The acquisition provides Fairbanks Morse Defense with enhanced valve design, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities, expanding its global customer reach and reinforcing its position as a key supplier of components that advance fleet readiness. Truflo Marine offers a range of highly engineered products, including sophisticated hull valves, and maintains a considerable operational footprint with approximately 270 employees at its UK facility. Its technology is currently deployed across more than 34 allied navies.

By integrating Truflo Marine’s intellectual property, engineering talent, and longstanding expertise in naval valve solutions, Fairbanks Morse Defense is positioned to accelerate the development of integrated components that support evolving naval requirements. The acquisition will also strengthen the company’s manufacturing and service network, improving its ability to deliver high-performance components for critical naval operations worldwide.

The transaction follows a series of strategic investments by Fairbanks Morse Defense aimed at expanding its international and domestic capabilities and further solidifying its role as a major global supplier to naval forces. The sale remains subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval.

Fairbanks Morse Defense, which has supplied naval power and propulsion systems for nearly a century, continues to grow its presence across marine technologies, OEM parts, and service offerings supporting the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, and allied forces.
