Fal: $140 Million Series D Raised To Advance Real-Time Generative Media Infrastructure

By Amit Chowdhry ● Dec 10, 2025

Fal announced the completion of a $140 million Series D financing round led by Sequoia, marking its third capital raise in 2025 and signaling strong momentum for the generative media infrastructure company. The round also included significant participation from Kleiner Perkins and new backing from NVentures, NVIDIA’s venture capital arm, alongside Alkeon Capital. Existing investors Andreessen Horowitz, Kindred Ventures, Meritech, Bessemer Venture Partners, Notable Capital, Shopify Ventures, and Salesforce Ventures also joined the round, reaffirming broad support for the company’s rising role in real-time generative media.

The latest investment follows Fal’s $125 million Series C announced in July 2025. At that time, the company had tripled revenue from the prior year and had surpassed 2 million developers using the platform. Demand surged further in the months since, with Fal more than doubling its run rate and serving billions of real-time generative assets monthly across image, video, audio, and 3D formats. In 2025, Fal also tripled its team size, expanded engineering and go-to-market operations, and completed a strategic acquisition while rolling out new product lines to broaden its reach in real-time AI workflows.

Investors described Fal’s rapid progress as evidence of growing enterprise reliance on real-time generative content infrastructure. With inference becoming one of the largest markets in AI and video, an especially demanding use case, Fal’s serverless API approach, global scalability, and ultra-low latency performance positioned the company as a foundational layer for new categories of generative applications.

Fal’s platform enables developers and enterprises to run open source, private, or commercial models through a unified, low-latency interface. The system automates global scaling and eliminates DevOps overhead, enabling teams to deploy generative applications in minutes. The company now supports millions of developers and hundreds of enterprise customers across commerce, design, entertainment, and emerging AI native sectors.

How the funding will be used: With the funding, Fal plans to accelerate hiring across engineering and go-to-market functions, expand its real-time infrastructure footprint worldwide, and continue advancing new product development. Company leaders said the next phase of generative media will be defined by personalization, speed, and intelligent creation at a global scale, and they intend to position Fal as the enabling backbone for this shift.

KEY QUOTES

“Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins and NVentures joining fal is a powerful signal about where generative media is heading—and who is going to define it. Developers and enterprises are building entirely new categories of applications around real-time, personalized, generative content. fal is the infrastructure that makes that possible at global scale.”

Burkay Gur, Co-Founder and CEO, Fal

“fal’s momentum has been undeniable—developers and enterprises kept telling us they were the platform to use for creating media with AI. As inference is one of the largest technology markets and video its most demanding slice, fal’s speed, model selection, and workflow and collaboration features position them to define the category. We’re proud to back a team enabling high-quality, AI-generated video at scale.”

Sonya Huang, Partner, Sequoia

“fal’s velocity is rare, even by AI standards. They’re not just keeping up with demand; they’re setting the pace for what generative media infrastructure must look like as real-time experiences become the default.”

Mamoon Hamid, Partner, Kleiner Perkins

“We are entering the next chapter of generative media—one defined by speed, personalization, and intelligent creation. fal’s mission is to power that future for developers everywhere, enabling them to build at the speed of imagination without being held back by infrastructure complexity.”
