fal Acquires Lucent After Agentic Creative AI Platform Surpasses 30,000 Users

fal has acquired Lucent, an agent-based generative media platform, bringing co-founders Dimi Panagiotopoulos and Alex Koumpas into the company as it expands its technology for orchestrating AI-generated image, video and audio workflows. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Lucent launched in November 2025 and reached more than 16,000 active creators generating over 75,000 assets within its first three weeks.

The platform surpassed 30,000 users shortly afterward.

Rather than requiring creators to manually move between multiple generative AI tools, Lucent allows users to describe their objectives in natural language and uses agents to coordinate models, editing and brand requirements behind the scenes.

The founders initially focused the platform on advertising, where generative media systems need to produce high volumes of content while meeting brand guidelines and commercial performance requirements.

Panagiotopoulos brings experience spanning engineering and creative technology. By age 21, he had developed energy-optimization algorithms running on eight Formula 1 cars and later worked on LLM operations technology.

Koumpas previously worked as a quantitative trader at a multibillion-dollar hedge fund and built an AI-driven quantitative trading startup that was later acquired.

At fal, the pair will contribute to the company’s broader effort to connect generative AI models with systems capable of turning them into finished media.

fal provides enterprises and developers with access to more than 1,000 generative media models through an inference platform containing more than 1,300 production endpoints.

KEY QUOTES:

“We look for a specific kind of builder: technical enough to build anything, business-minded enough to understand why it matters, and wired to figure it out when the path isn’t obvious.”

“Dimi and Alex both have exactly that. They took on one of the hardest domains you can point generative media at and moved fast enough to win in it.”
