Feathery is an AI-powered financial services technology company that automates client onboarding, account opening, advisor transitions, and other operational workflows for more than 300 wealth management and insurance firms, having raised $30 million in total funding. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Feathery Co-Founder and CEO Peter Dun to learn more about the company’s origins, AI-powered workflow automation, integrations with financial services platforms, customer success stories, funding, and plans to transform how financial institutions manage client relationships.
Peter Dun’s Background

When asked about his background, Dun shared:
Before Feathery, I studied artificial intelligence at Stanford and then led client onboarding at Robinhood for a few years. There, we built a seamless signup and onboarding flow that integrated with the rest of our backend tech stack. It was a key part of how Robinhood differentiated itself from competitors, maximized new client growth and kept operational overhead to a minimum.
That experience inspired me to start Feathery and bring the same principles to the rest of the wealth management industry, which has traditionally relied on paper forms, PDFs and manual data entry. Opening an account often means chasing documents, re-keying information across systems and fixing paperwork that isn’t in good order.
How The Idea For Feathery Came Together
When asked how the idea for Feathery originated, Dun explained:
At Robinhood, I saw how much the client onboarding experience shaped a company’s growth. Small details, like how many steps a client had to complete or how clearly information was requested, had a direct impact on how many people actually opened an account.
But a great experience on the surface was only half the challenge. Behind every signup, client data had to be verified, structured correctly and passed into multiple backend systems, and any gap created delays, errors and extra work for operations. Getting both sides right, a smooth experience for the client and clean, connected data for the firm, took significant engineering effort, even at a company built around technology.
That made me wonder how traditional wealth management firms were handling the same problem without those resources. The answer was that most weren’t. They relied on PDFs, email and manual data entry, which meant a slower experience for clients and more operational overhead for the firm.
I started Feathery with my co-founder, Zack Khan, in 2021 to give every wealth management firm the ability to deliver that kind of experience, with AI handling the data and workflows behind it.
Favorite Memory Working At Feathery
When asked about his favorite memory working at the company, Dun recalled:
My favorite memory is moving into our first office. We started Feathery remotely during the pandemic, so for the first three years the company existed mostly on video calls and Slack. The day we moved in, we assembled all of the desks and chairs ourselves.
Being in the same room changed how we worked almost immediately. Engineers could turn around and talk through a customer problem with the people who had just heard about it, and decisions that used to take a day of back-and-forth happened in minutes.
It was also the first time Feathery felt like a real place, not just a product. Looking around that room, I realized how far we’d come from an idea I had at Robinhood, and how much the team had built together.
Core Products And Features
When asked about Feathery’s core products and features, Dun explained:
Feathery is an AI platform for financial services client operations, with a deep focus on wealth management. We power core client workflows like onboarding, account opening, advisor transitions, proposal generation and more.
Our core products:
- Robin: Our interactive AI that automates client intake and configures workflows, so firms can launch and adjust processes simply by describing what they need.
- Document Intelligence: Turns unstructured inputs like complex PDFs, forms and financial statements into structured, validated data ready for downstream systems.
- Workflow Designer: A low-code engine for mapping custom onboarding paths tailored to each firm’s clients and processes.
- Vertical Integrations: Connect bidirectionally with CRMs, custodians, portfolio management systems and more, so data flows in both directions without manual re-entry.
Challenges In Wealth Management Technology
When asked about recent challenges in wealth management technology and how Feathery has addressed them, Dun explained:
One of the biggest challenges in wealth management is that many core systems were never built to connect with anything else. Some custodians, portfolio management systems and legacy platforms offer limited APIs or none at all. That means even when a firm captures clean client data, someone still has to log in and enter it by hand, system by system. It’s slow, error-prone and one of the main reasons onboarding and account opening take as long as they do.
For a long time, those systems were simply out of reach for automation. Computer use agents changed that. AI can now operate these systems the way a person would, navigating screens, entering data and retrieving information, so we can connect to platforms that previously had no integration path. Because this is financial services, we pair that with validation checks, audit trails and human review where needed, so firms can trust every action the agent takes.
The result is that firms can automate workflows end to end, even across the systems that used to require the most manual work.
How Feathery’s Technology Has Evolved
When asked how the company’s technology has evolved since launching, Dun explained:
The biggest shift has been the introduction of Robin, our interactive AI. Before Robin, setting up a new workflow meant configuring each step, field and integration manually, which still required time and specialized knowledge.
With Robin, firms can simply describe what they need, and Robin configures the workflow for them. Teams can refine it the same way, by telling Robin what to change rather than rebuilding anything themselves. Robin also works on the client side, guiding clients through intake and capturing their information conversationally.
The impact on speed has been significant. One RIA launched an entirely new onboarding experience, connected across their systems, in about a week, work that traditionally would have taken months.
Robin has changed who can build on Feathery: the operations teams closest to each process can now shape it directly.
Significant Company Milestones
When asked about Feathery’s most significant milestones, Dun highlighted several achievements:
- Closing our Series A in July 2026, led by Portage Ventures, bringing total funding to $30 million.
- Working with a third of Barron’s top 30 RIAs and several of the largest independent broker-dealers.
- Growing to more than 300 firms across wealth management and insurance.
Customer Success Stories
When asked about customer success stories, Dun highlighted the company’s work with Sequoia Financial:
Sequoia Financial is a national RIA with about $32 billion in AUM, serving high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients across the U.S. When we started working together in 2024, their onboarding process was fragmented. Advisors gathered client information over email and phone, then filled out custodian PDFs by hand. Clients were confused by overlapping paperwork, advisors spent too much time chasing missing details, and many submissions came back not in good order. With thousands of new households onboarding each year, those inefficiencies added up quickly.
With Feathery, Sequoia now runs a single onboarding experience that adapts to each household and account type, prefills what they already know from their CRM, and catches errors before anything reaches the custodian. Client data enters once and flows through their entire back office, including Salesforce, Box, DocuSign, Schwab and Fidelity.
The result has been 45% faster custodial account openings, fewer NIGOs, and significant time savings for advisors. As Ryan Mahoney, Vice President of Business Systems at Sequoia, put it: “In wealth management, the onboarding experience sets the tone for the entire client relationship.”
Funding And Revenue Metrics
When asked about Feathery’s funding, revenue, and financial performance, Dun revealed:
We’ve raised $30 million in total funding, including our Series A led by Portage Ventures. Index Ventures, Bain Capital Ventures, Allstate Strategic Ventures, Clocktower Ventures, and Erie Strategic Ventures also participated.
We’re using the funding to expand our AI capabilities and grow our engineering and go-to-market teams. A major focus is building products that draw on the data flowing through our platform to help firms make faster, more accurate decisions.
We don’t disclose revenue, but we serve more than 300 firms and process tens of millions of submissions each month. In the past month alone, firms using our transitions platform moved more than $2 billion in assets.
Total Addressable Market
When asked about the total addressable market Feathery is pursuing, Dun assessed:
We estimate our total addressable market at roughly $100 billion worldwide. Banks, wealth management firms and insurers globally are projected to spend more than $1.1 trillion on technology in 2026, and we estimate that about 9% of that goes toward client operations: onboarding, account opening, intake, document processing and servicing.
Much of this work still runs on legacy systems, in-house builds and manual processes. Feathery replaces that fragmented spending with a single AI platform that automates these workflows end to end.
What Differentiates Feathery From Its Competition
When asked what distinguishes Feathery from competing financial services automation platforms, Dun explained:
Most tools in our market fall into two camps: point solutions that automate a single task, and general-purpose AI tools that aren’t built for the regulatory and operational complexity of financial services.
Feathery is purpose-built for financial services and covers the full client workflow, from onboarding and account opening to advisor transitions and proposal generation. We connect bidirectionally with the systems firms already rely on, including CRMs, custodians and portfolio management systems, and our computer use agents reach platforms that have no APIs at all.
With Robin, firms can configure and adjust workflows simply by describing what they need, so changes take days instead of months. And because every workflow on Feathery generates data, firms gain insights that help them make better decisions and automate more over time.
Future Company Goals
When asked about Feathery’s future goals, Dun outlined plans to expand its AI capabilities and become a central platform for managing financial services client relationships:
Our long-term goal is to replace the CRM as the client system of record for financial services firms. Traditional CRMs depend on advisors and staff entering data by hand, so client records are often incomplete or out of date. Feathery already captures client data at nearly every touchpoint, from onboarding and account opening to documents and meetings, and keeps it in sync across a firm’s systems. That puts us in a natural position to become the place where client relationships are managed, not just a layer feeding data into another system.
With AI, that system can largely maintain itself: capturing information automatically, surfacing insights and triggering the next step in each workflow. To get there, we’re expanding Robin, deepening our data and decisioning capabilities, and growing our engineering and go-to-market teams.
The Role Of AI In Financial Services Client Operations
Dun concluded by discussing opportunities for financial services firms to begin adopting AI:
Financial services firms are under pressure to adopt AI, but many are still figuring out where to start. Our advice is to begin with client operations, where the work is high-volume, repetitive and directly tied to the client experience. Anyone who wants to see what that looks like can try Robin and build a workflow in minutes.
We’re also hiring across engineering and go-to-market as we scale, and we’re always looking for people excited to bring AI to one of the most complex and regulated industries in the world.
