Fesarius Therapeutics Raises $20 Million Series A To Advance Dermal Repair Technology

Fesarius Therapeutics announced the closing of an oversubscribed $20 million Series A financing round led by Jefferson Life Sciences, with participation from Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JJDC, Empire State Development’s NY Ventures, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). The funding will support the expansion of the company’s commercial infrastructure, broaden national market coverage, pursue Breakthrough Device Designation and enhanced reimbursement pathways, and advance clinical studies for its OneStep procedure.

The company’s flagship product, DermiSphere™, became the first hydrogel Dermal Regeneration Template (hDRT) available in the U.S. market after receiving FDA clearance in 2025 for the management of multiple wound types. Designed with a patented dual-density collagen microarchitecture, DermiSphere is intended to accelerate cellular infiltration and vascularization to support the body’s natural healing process. Fesarius said its OneStep procedure, which combines DermiSphere placement with a skin graft in a single operation, could eliminate the need for a second surgery, potentially reducing recovery times, patient discomfort, and overall treatment costs.

According to the company, the U.S. dermal regeneration market represents a $1.6 billion opportunity and has experienced little innovation over the last three decades. Fesarius said it is already commercially active across multiple U.S. hospital systems and plans to use the new capital to accelerate adoption while advancing toward a pivotal clinical trial aimed at supporting future label expansion.

Jefferson Life Sciences Managing Partner Laura Lande-Diner said the firm believes Fesarius has the potential to transform deep wound care and improve outcomes for millions of patients requiring skin grafts.

Empire State Development Managing Director Jennifer Tegan said New York is building one of the nation’s most dynamic life sciences ecosystems and that DermiSphere represents the type of innovation the state wants developed and scaled locally, creating both medical and economic benefits.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons Executive Vice President and ASPS Ventures CEO Michael Costelloe said the investment marks a new chapter for the organization as it becomes an active partner in helping advance technologies developed by its members.

Founded in New York, FesariusTherapeutics is a commercial-stage medical technology company focused on dermal repair. The company is working toward a future label expansion and Breakthrough Device Designation while continuing to grow its presence across U.S. healthcare systems.
