FFL Partners Closes $1.35 Billion Fund VI To Back Healthcare And Tech-Enabled Services Companies

FFL Partners has closed FFL Capital Partners VI and related vehicles with more than $1.35 billion in total capital commitments, exceeding the firm’s $1 billion target and increasing fund size by approximately 50% compared with Fund V.

The San Francisco-based private equity firm attracted commitments from both existing and new limited partners, including public and private pension funds, financial institutions, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, and family offices.

Fund VI will continue FFL’s Sector Exploration and Expertise Development, or SEED, investment strategy. The approach focuses on narrowly defined subsectors where the firm believes it has developed deep operating expertise, industry relationships, and sourcing capabilities.

FFL plans to concentrate Fund VI investments primarily in healthcare and tech-enabled services businesses with growth potential, strong competitive positioning, relatively limited cyclicality, and experienced management teams.

The fund expects to make equity investments ranging from $50 million to $200 million in transactions involving either control positions or significant minority stakes.

FFL said it has already begun deploying Fund VI across its core investment areas. Current investments include Janus RX, Pioneer HOA, Waylin Partners, and Ally Technical.

The firm has been investing in middle-market companies since 1997 and has accumulated more than $7 billion in capital commitments across its funds.

FFL’s investment model emphasizes high-engagement partnerships with management teams, combining sector specialization with operating resources intended to accelerate growth and support long-term value creation.

The firm said the size of Fund VI reflects increased participation from larger institutional investors as well as continued support from longtime limited partners. FFL also highlighted its ability to return capital to investors through completed exits while continuing to deploy capital from its newer funds.

The closing comes during a challenging fundraising environment for private equity managers, with institutional investors increasingly concentrating commitments among firms with established track records and differentiated strategies.

Kirkland & Ellis served as fund counsel to FFL, while Piper Sandler acted as placement agent for the fundraising.
