Fidelis Capital has appointed veteran equity strategist Herb Achey as a Partner, adding more than 45 years of experience serving ultra-high-net-worth families and institutions. Achey joins the advisor-owned wealth management firm after spending 30 years with U.S. Trust and Bank of America Private Bank. He most recently served as an Investment Strategist and supervised more than $2 billion in client assets.
At Bank of America, Achey led consumer equity research, contributed to stock allocation decisions across actively managed portfolios and developed customized equity strategies for wealthy families and institutions.
He also worked with clients holding concentrated stock positions, helping construct portfolios around large investments in individual companies.
Before joining U.S. Trust, Achey served for three years as a high-net-worth portfolio manager at Wells Fargo. He previously spent five years leading equity research and portfolio management for the Bethlehem Steel Pension Trust, where he oversaw approximately $3 billion in internally managed assets.
Achey began an earlier stage of his career at PNC Bank, where he spent five years as a high-net-worth portfolio manager.
At Fidelis, he will join an Investment Committee consisting largely of former Bank of America and Wells Fargo private banking professionals. His responsibilities will include developing personalized equity portfolios that integrate with clients’ tax, retirement, banking, estate planning and wealth accumulation needs.
Achey is reuniting with former U.S. Trust and Bank of America colleagues Neale Ellis, Fidelis’ Founding Partner and Co-Chief Investment Officer, and Chris Gunster, Partner and Head of Fixed Income.
Fidelis manages nearly $3 billion and serves ultra-high-net-worth individuals, multigenerational families and institutions. The firm positions itself as an outsourced family office providing investment management, wealth planning and family office services.
The company operates offices in Tampa, Dallas, Washington, D.C., Greenwich, St. Louis, Charlotte and Cashiers, North Carolina.
