Filmustage, an AI platform that enhances the film pre-production phase from script breakdowns and scheduling to analysis, synopsis crafting, budget management, etc., announced a $1.5 million seed funding round led by UK-based VC fund Raw Ventures with Geek Ventures, among other investors.

Filmustage is used by many professionals in the film industry, from large studios to independent filmmakers including Roger Christian, a visionary director and Oscar-winning set decorator renowned for his work on “Star Wars” and Byron Saltysiak, a former Vice President at WarnerMedia.

Filmustage the time and effort required for manual breakdowns by 90%, enabling production teams to operate more efficiently and with 6 times more accuracy. The company was founded by Egor Dubrovsky who identified the problem through his experience shooting pilots for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. And unlike such competitors as StudioBinder, and Celtx, Filmustage employs advanced AI technology to automate script breakdowns, delivering precise results in minutes and updating according to script changes.

Filmustage utilizes AI to analyze scripts, identifying over 17+ categories like characters, locations, and props. And it dynamically updates breakdowns with script changes, ensuring high accuracy. This platform features smart scheduling, risk analysis for each scene, and generates synopses for individual scenes and the entire script. This AI-driven precision and comprehensive analysis make Filmustage uniquely efficient in streamlining pre-production processes. Additionally, the platform supports export to industry-standard software like Movie Magic, Gorilla Scheduling, or Final Draft, facilitating seamless integration into existing workflows.

By August 2024, the number of registrations exceeded 15,000. And among the other prominent clients are Callan Green, an award-winning Director of Photography who used Filmustage in the TV series “The Gentlemen,” “Masters of the Air,” and “Gangs of London”; Chris LeDoux, one of the co-founders of Crafty Apes; Mark Kolpack, a visual effects pioneer; and Martin Manuel Nuza, whose film “A Cannibal Mind” won awards for Best Feature Script and Best Original Story.

KEY QUOTES:

“Filmustage continues to work on reducing budget risks and ensuring efficient resource management for film production studios. The investment will be used to acquire new B2B clients, including Tier-1 clients, and expand our AI capabilities to cover even more aspects of pre-production and post-production, including AI-based budget estimation, AI-based storyboards, and marketplace & Omniverse integrations.”

– Egor Dubrovsky, CEO and Co-Founder of Filmustage

“We invested in Filmustage after their attendance in the finals of our investment program Global MediaTech Pitch Day, where they stood out among 400 applicants. The main reason we invested is due to the pragmatic and efficient approach by which the company’s product successfully integrates advanced AI developments, such as ChatGPT and Gemini, into the production processes of the film industry without competing with them. Meanwhile, the team is developing their own specialized and unique AI model for working with scripts and production plans, which ensures the product’s practical efficiency. We see the product market fit, the team’s focus and concentration, and we want to support scaling both financially and with our industry expertise.”
