Flex Completes Acquisition Of Electrical Power Products

By Amit Chowdhry • May 5, 2026

Flex has completed its acquisition of Electrical Power Products, a leading provider of engineered-to-order electrical power control and protection systems. EP² expands Flex’s Critical Power offering with engineered-to-order capabilities that support utility, power generation, and data center customers, while adding a scaled Midwest manufacturing presence in Des Moines, Iowa, that supports U.S. reshoring initiatives. EP²’s employees, leadership, and facilities will be integrated into Flex’s Embedded and Critical Power business.

Based in Des Moines, EP² brings more than 35 years of experience designing, integrating, and manufacturing highly engineered control and relay panels and modular, integrated control buildings for a diverse base of long-standing customers.

Flex operates across 30 countries, delivering advanced manufacturing and supply chain solutions, innovative products, and lifecycle services that support customers from concept to scale. In the AI era, the company has positioned itself as a partner for customers seeking to accelerate data center deployment by solving power, heat, and scale challenges through cutting-edge power and cooling technology and scalable IT infrastructure. The acquisition of EP² directly strengthens that positioning by adding customized power control and protection capabilities purpose-built for utility-grade applications, complementing Flex’s existing power and cooling offerings with a technology stack that extends from grid interconnection through distribution and protection.

The combination strengthens Flex’s ability to serve utility and power generation customers in addition to the data center and commercial markets that have been primary growth drivers, creating a more diversified critical power business with greater addressable market and more stable demand characteristics across economic cycles.

The deal reflects the rapid escalation in demand for engineered power control and protection systems as grid modernization, electrification, and data center buildout drive capital expenditure across the utility and power generation sectors. For Flex, EP² provides both engineering depth and a Midwest manufacturing footprint that can serve domestic customers seeking supply chain resilience.

KEY QUOTES:

“This acquisition strengthens our Critical Power platform and supports our strategy to meet growing demand for resilient electrical infrastructure. EP²’s engineering expertise, customer-focused culture, and utility-grade solutions further enhance our power portfolio.”
