Flexera is expanding its FinOps portfolio through the acquisitions of ProsperOps and Chaos Genius, aiming to deliver a more autonomous, AI-enabled cost optimization layer across both public cloud infrastructure and fast-growing data platforms. The company said the two deals strengthen its ability to help enterprises not only track and allocate cloud spending, but also take automated action to reduce waste and optimize commitments and workloads across major environments, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Snowflake, and Databricks.
The announcement positions Flexera’s strategy around execution-first FinOps as cloud costs continue to rise and AI workloads expand across enterprise infrastructure. Flexera characterized the additions as extending its FinOps solution into emerging categories such as FinOps for AI and FinOps for Data Clouds, reflecting how organizations are increasingly managing spend across not just compute and storage, but also AI-driven analytics, model development, and data warehouse consumption.
ProsperOps brings what Flexera described as an autonomous approach to managing cloud commitments, focused on rate optimization across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. Flexera said the platform helps enterprises move beyond passive recommendations to actively delivered savings outcomes, supported by AI-enabled automation that can take action without human intervention. ProsperOps, founded in 2018, is built around automating cloud commitment management in environments where usage patterns change dynamically but commitment decisions are often manual, a mismatch that can create inefficiency, lock-in risk, and missed savings opportunities.
Flexera said ProsperOps is growing by more than 90% and manages approximately $6 billion in annual cloud usage. The company added that ProsperOps will continue operating under its existing brand to ensure continuity for customers and partners, while Flexera integrates complementary FinOps capabilities.
Chaos Genius, meanwhile, expands Flexera’s presence in Data FinOps, addressing what the company described as a rapidly accelerating problem: runaway spend on platforms like Snowflake and Databricks as analytics and AI workloads scale. Flexera said Chaos Genius uses agentic AI to autonomously optimize inefficient use across these environments and has already helped Fortune 500 enterprises reduce costs by as much as 30%. The platform combines granular spend observability with recommendations and autonomous agents that reduce waste through initiatives such as instance right-sizing and workload optimization, without disrupting performance.
Flexera framed the acquisitions as strengthening its position in the FinOps market by expanding coverage across the FinOps lifecycle, from visibility and allocation to optimization and automated execution. The company also said the deals build on its existing FinOps roadmap and integrations, positioning Flexera as a provider capable of addressing multi-cloud infrastructure costs alongside data cloud consumption patterns that are increasingly shaped by AI adoption.
