Flint Rehab has launched a $99-per-month Remote Neuro Recovery Program designed to help people recovering from strokes, brain injuries and other neurological conditions continue rehabilitation after in-person therapy ends or becomes limited.
The online program provides structured at-home recovery support, exercise programming and monthly live check-ins with a neuro specialist. No insurance coverage or medical referral is required.
Flint Rehab developed the program through its team of physical therapists and occupational therapists. It is intended for individuals recovering from stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions.
The company is targeting a common gap in neurological rehabilitation, where insurance coverage can end before patients feel they have reached their recovery goals.
Research cited by Flint Rehab found that approximately 81% of stroke survivors receive fewer than 40 rehabilitation sessions following a stroke.
After covered visits are exhausted, patients can face additional barriers including private-pay treatment costs, transportation challenges and limited availability of neuro-specialized providers.
Flint Rehab said research into telerehabilitation has shown that remote approaches can produce outcomes comparable to conventional in-person treatment for certain cognitive, quality-of-life and functional measures.
Participants in the Remote Neuro Recovery Program are matched with a program selected from a library created by Flint Rehab’s rehabilitation specialists.
Exercise videos can be accessed through phones, tablets and laptops, enabling patients to follow their assigned exercises at home on a daily or weekly schedule.
Participants also meet monthly with a Neuro Rehab Coach through a telerehabilitation appointment. These sessions are intended to provide accountability, practical guidance and progress reviews.
Caregivers and family members can participate in the virtual check-ins as well.
Flint Rehab is making the program available globally.
An early-access participant cited by the company reported a 70% improvement in cognitive processing speed and regained hand closure movements while using the program. That experience represents an individual participant report rather than a guaranteed clinical outcome.
The new service expands Flint Rehab’s existing portfolio of at-home neurorehabilitation products.
Its products include FitMi, a full-body home rehabilitation system, and MusicGlove, a music-based hand therapy device.
Flint Rehab said its rehabilitation devices have received more than 1,200 five-star customer ratings and are used in over 300 rehabilitation hospitals.
The company focuses on helping people continue high-repetition rehabilitation exercises at home after traditional therapy becomes unavailable or limited.
