Flip has raised $25 million in new funding to expand its AI-native employee experience platform and provide frontline workers with greater access to digital identities, enterprise applications and automated workflows. Existing investors Notion Capital and HV Capital increased their stakes in the company, while L-Bank, the development bank of Baden-Württemberg, joined as a new investor.
The financing also included participation from additional angel and institutional investors.
Flip is focused on workers who do not typically operate from desks, including employees across manufacturing, retail, logistics, healthcare and hospitality.
The company estimates that roughly 80% of the global workforce works away from a traditional desk.
Many of those employees do not have company email addresses or direct access to the enterprise software systems used by office-based workers.
Flip views that lack of digital identity and system access as an infrastructure problem that could prevent frontline workers from benefiting fully from the growing adoption of AI across enterprises.
The company plans to use its new capital to expand three primary areas of its platform.
Frontline Identity provides workers with secure digital identities that can give them access to enterprise systems even when they do not have conventional corporate email accounts.
Flip Fusion is designed to enable the creation of applications tailored to frontline workforces.
The company is also developing AI-powered workflows and agents for processes including shift scheduling, absence management and employee onboarding.
Flip believes those capabilities can bring AI-driven automation into operational environments where many processes remain manual or fragmented.
More than 1,000 brands use the Flip platform, including REWE Group, SIXT, TEDi and FORVIA HELLA.
Other customers cited by the company include Bosch, APCOA, Greif and Europart.
Industrial packaging company Greif initially deployed Flip as a way to bring internal communications, HR tools and leadership access directly to frontline employees.
During its pilot, Greif reported 85% adoption, 74% weekly active users and a user satisfaction rating of 4.3 out of 5.
The company subsequently expanded Flip to more than 100 locations across 15 countries.
At Sonderpreis Baumarkt, an AI assistant called SMILE provides access to company knowledge for approximately 4,000 employees across 364 stores.
TEDi is using Flip to digitize store processes and automate them with AI, while FORVIA HELLA uses the platform to provide secure digital access to workers without company email addresses.
Europart, which has used Flip since 2021, has approximately 2,000 employees across 300 locations in 28 countries and uses the platform for AI-supported knowledge management.
The new financing is intended to accelerate development of these AI capabilities while supporting Flip’s continued expansion across Europe and the U.S.
Notion Capital has backed the company since 2022 and said its decision to increase its investment reflects confidence in Flip’s position in the emerging market for AI tools serving frontline workers.
