Flipturn, an electric vehicle (EV) charger and fleet management platform, announced it had raised $11 million in a Series A round led by CRV with participation from Accel. Flipturn helps fleets manage chargers and their overall fleet operations. This funding round will enable the team to continue on its quest to expand into broader charging and energy management solutions.
Flipturn’s platform tackles a major challenge in the EV fleet industry—without real-time visibility into charger health and status, fleets risk vehicles not being fully charged by the morning, which results in lost revenue. Plus, without the ability to control charger power output, fleets can overpay for electricity or exceed their site’s capacity, causing further operational disruptions.
Flipturn’s platform addresses these challenges, offering a comprehensive solution that helps fleets manage charger reliability, optimize electricity usage, and streamline fleet operations across various industries, including bus, trucking, and light-duty fleets. Given its fleet-specific features, agile product development, and unmatched customer support, Flipturn stands out in the space.
Flipturn was founded by Katie Siegel (CEO) and Sashko Stubailo (CTO), who bring extensive experience from leading tech companies. Siegel was a senior engineering manager at Samsara where she saw firsthand the operational challenges fleets face and how new regulations push the industry toward EV adoption. Stubailo was a senior engineering manager at Stripe, where he led teams to build scalable products supporting billions of dollars in transactions.
Flipturn plans to use this funding to scale its business across GTM and engineering teams.
KEY QUOTES:
“As the city of Seattle rapidly electrifies our fleet, it’s crucial we understand how, when and where EVs are charging throughout our charging network. Flipturn marries our vehicle data and EV charger data to provide a view into our charging ecosystem and gives us data we can use to educate drivers, understand operational impacts from charging vehicles, and build new infrastructure where it’s needed.”
– Chris Wiley, the city of Seattle’s fleet director
“Whether your EV fleet is profitable is all about the utility bill. Without
Flipturn’s charger management system, we would be spending more on energy than a typical diesel truck. It’s a huge part of successfully running a heavy duty EV fleet.”
– Jason Altamirano, Vice President at TITAN Freight Systems
“Flipturn is an exciting, fast-moving tech company with a compelling climate mission. In an industry dominated by slow, outdated incumbents, Flipturn’s platform offers an innovative, fleet-first solution that is crucial to accelerating EV adoption and fleet electrification.”
