Flux Raises $5 Million to Expand AI-Powered Engineering Intelligence Platform

Flux announced that it has raised $5 million in new funding led by Calibrate Ventures, with participation from existing investors True Ventures and Glasswing Ventures, to accelerate development of its code-first engineering intelligence platform as artificial intelligence reshapes software development.

The company provides engineering leaders with visibility into codebases by analyzing code changes and surfacing insights related to risk, technical debt, team dynamics, quality, and security. Flux aims to help organizations better understand the impact of AI-assisted software development and connect engineering activity to business outcomes.

According to the company, traditional engineering management tools that rely on manually updated ticketing systems are struggling to keep pace with the speed of AI-driven development. Flux instead uses code itself as the source of truth, providing what it describes as ground-truth visibility into engineering work.

The company highlighted customer Cobalt, a provider of penetration testing as a service, as an example of how AI-assisted development has changed engineering workflows. Flux’s analytics helped Cobalt quantify a shift from maintenance work toward feature development, enabling the company to pursue increased research and development tax credit eligibility.

With the new capital, Flux plans to deepen its AI-powered analysis capabilities, expand features connecting AI transformation to cost, quality, security, and technical debt, and grow both its engineering and go-to-market teams.

Calibrate Ventures, which led the round, said Flux’s code-first approach gives engineering leaders direct insight into how code evolves and ties engineering activity to business impact.

KEY QUOTES:

“Flux insights are based on the source of truth, the code, so leaders can lean into AI without flying blind. Every other major business function has a system of record. Engineering needs one that’s ready for the Age of AI. We’re building that system around the code itself, so leaders can easily and confidently answer the questions that matter most: Are we really getting value from AI? Where could we be doing better? Is our AI transformation creating risk we can’t see?”

Ted Julian, CEO and Founder, Flux

“There is so much enthusiasm now. We’ve brought playfulness back into building software, and it’s paying off. Engineers are exploring ideas freely, then turning the best ones into production-ready capabilities that move the needle for customers.”

Mike Garon, VP of Engineering, Cobalt

“Engineering leaders don’t need more dashboards. They need a direct line into how their code is evolving day to day. Flux’s code-first approach gives them exactly that, tying code changes to quality, security, and business impact. We’re excited to back Ted and the Flux team.”
