Foley & Lardner announced the addition of partners Melissa McGrory and Teresa Napoli and associate Madeline Clasen to its Chicago office, strengthening the firm’s national Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice and expanding its capabilities across the Health Care & Life Sciences, Manufacturing, and Innovative Technology sectors.

The trio joins Foley from Sidley Austin and collectively brings more than 40 years of experience advising Fortune 500 companies and other organizations on complex employee benefits and executive compensation matters. Their experience spans multiple industries, including communications services, aerospace and defense, healthcare, manufacturing, aviation, and transportation.

McGrory, Napoli, and Clasen counsel employers, plan sponsors, and service providers on legal, tax, and regulatory issues involving qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, health and welfare arrangements, equity compensation, and employment, retention, and separation programs. They also advise clients on plan governance, interactions with regulators, legal and financial risk management, and benefits-related issues associated with mergers and acquisitions, including post-closing integration.

Foley said the additions further enhance its growing corporate platform in Chicago and nationwide while addressing increasing client demand for guidance on workforce, transactional, and regulatory matters.

The hires continue a period of expansion for the firm’s Corporate Department. Since February, Foley has added 13 lateral partners, including several recent corporate attorneys. Recent additions include employee benefits partner Shannon Goff Kukulka in Nashville, transactions partners Ashley Sinclair in Chicago and Heather Miles in New York, and transactions and finance partners Deanna Reitman and Glenn Reitman in Houston.

Founded nearly two centuries ago, Foley & Lardner has approximately 1,100 lawyers across 27 offices worldwide and provides legal services across the Energy & Infrastructure, Health Care & Life Sciences, Innovative Technology, and Manufacturing sectors.
