Ford Updates 2027 F-150 With New Engine And BlueCruise Towing

Ford 2027 F-150
Ford has introduced an updated 2027 F-150 lineup featuring a new standard engine, expanded V-8 availability, hands-free towing technology, and a Carhartt-branded edition.

The standard 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 is being replaced by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 producing 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

Although the headline output remains similar, Ford said the engine can provide up to 11% more torque across the portion of the powerband used most frequently during everyday driving.

The company is also making its 5.0-liter V-8 available across every F-150 trim. The engine will return as standard equipment on King Ranch and Platinum models after customer demand demonstrated continuing interest in traditional V-8 power.

BlueCruise hands-free highway driving will gain the ability to operate while the truck is towing a trailer.

The system can be used on more than 130,000 miles of mapped divided highways in the United States and Canada. Drivers must create a trailer profile, and the truck will estimate the trailer’s weight based on vehicle behavior.

BlueCruise can disengage if the system detects excessive trailer sway, an overloaded trailer or other unsafe conditions. Drivers must continue monitoring the road and remain prepared to take control.

Ford is also introducing lower-cost versions of its Tremor and Raptor off-road trucks.

The Tremor Low package reduces the price by approximately $5,300, while the Raptor Low cuts about $4,000 by removing selected comfort and technology features without changing the core suspension or powertrain.

Another addition is the F-150 Carhartt edition, developed with the workwear brand. The package is based on the XLT four-wheel-drive crew cab and adds Carhartt-inspired exterior graphics, wheels, interior fabric, stitching and all-weather floor mats.

The Carhartt package costs $4,195, bringing the truck’s starting price to approximately $65,455 including destination charges. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2027.

The wider F-150 lineup receives redesigned grilles and wheels, although the update does not include major changes to the body or platform.

Ford’s approach reflects the importance of balancing new technology with features valued by traditional truck buyers.

Hands-free towing and updated software support Ford’s strategy of generating recurring subscription revenue. Expanded V-8 availability and more affordable off-road packages address customers who prioritize mechanical capability and price.

The update arrives as General Motors prepares redesigned Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks and Ram continues improving its own full-size lineup.

Because the F-Series is Ford’s largest profit generator, even modest changes to product mix, pricing and customer demand can have a meaningful impact on the company’s overall financial performance.
