Fortnite Is Adding An ‘Undo’ Purchase Option Soon

By Noah Long • Mar 15, 2019

Epic Games will soon be adding an update to Fortnite with a button that allows players to undo a purchase. This option would definitely be more convenient than an earlier plan to set up a refund token system.

The “undo” button has a limitation though. Once you make a purchase, then you can undo it within five minutes. ANd you will not be able to use the undo function if you start a match after the purchase.

News about the undo button coming to Fortnite was revealed by an Epic engineering developer on Reddit via GameSpot. Here is what Epic’s engineering developer wrote on the Reddit post:

We neither want to add friction for players nor do we want to benefit from accidental purchases or players regretting a purchase.

Our initial solution for this was to add a refund token system.

As an ongoing iteration, we are going to introduce an “undo” button to the store page that allows you to easily refund without using up a token within a 5 minute time window, assuming you haven’t started a match since purchase.

PlayStation 4 in Japan is a bit of special case due to X / O button meaning being swapped by default and there also being options to reverse the meanings of the buttons.

It is unknown when the “undo” button will be added to Fortnite. But Epic Games recently released version 8.10 of Fortnite with a number of new features.

Fortnite Version 8.10 includes a brand new single-seat vehicle called The Baller — which has a built-in grappler and booster. Plus there are a number of weapon adjustments and matchmaking changes where PS4 and Xbox One players will be combined by default. Nintendo Switch players will also notice performance improvements with the update as the likelihood of particles being triggered when the day changes phases.
