Fotolog Gets $4.1 Million

The New York-based photo blogging community Fotolog has received $4.1 million in series C funding from 3i Group and BV Capital.

According to the stats on its homepage, Fotolog has 4,727,766 members and 152,307,942 photos. It also has a surprisingly high Alexa rank of 42.

According to it’s about page, Fotolog receives 1.5 billion page views and over 20 million unique visitors a month. I have never really used the site but it seems to be a popular destination for users to visually express themselves.

Fotolog monetizes its user-base by charging $5.00 a month for premium membership. Premium members get quirks such as being able to upload up to six pictures per day instead of just one. It also sticks Google ads on user pages.

Fotolog seems to be a thriving community which is only getting stronger. Their simple idea of fotologging instead of blogging definitely turned out to be a hit. We’ll just have to wait and see what they use their $4.1 million for.
