Fourier Health, a clinician-in-the-loop AI platform built to modernize the way healthcare systems process and synthesize patient data, announced it has raised $8.4 million in seed funding led by Yosemite, with participation from Innospark Ventures, NextGen Venture Partners, and Tau Ventures, and pre-seed backing from Lasagna, NextGen Venture Partners, Myelin, and Despierta.
Founded in late 2023 by James Lloyd and Christopher Lee, both serial entrepreneurs and veterans of the digital health industry, Fourier Health is tackling one of healthcare’s most persistent inefficiencies: the overwhelming flood of unstructured patient data that slows down clinical workflows and burdens providers. The company’s AI-driven platform transforms fragmented referral documents, handwritten notes, faxes, and PDFs into concise, use-case-specific summaries that surface only the most relevant clinical findings for each workflow.
Fourier Health’s system integrates directly with Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms, providing advanced customization and the ability to harmonize data across multiple formats and sources. By automatically labeling, validating, and summarizing documents, the platform offers providers a more comprehensive, longitudinal view of patient wellness, while also reducing administrative workloads. Clients report a 98% reduction in document validation time and a return of 2–3 hours per patient in administrative efficiency.
According to Christopher Lee, the company’s Co-Founder and CEO, Fourier is applying domain-specific AI to a long-standing problem that drains time and productivity from clinical teams. The platform’s design reflects a “clinician-in-the-loop” architecture, ensuring that healthcare professionals remain central to the process, validating outputs and guiding continuous AI model improvement.
The company plans to use the new capital to strengthen its R&D capabilities and expand its engineering, sales, and implementation teams. This will enable Fourier Health to deepen its integrations across healthcare systems and further refine its data harmonization capabilities to meet the evolving demands of hospitals, health networks, and specialty practices.
James Lloyd, Fourier’s Co-Founder and CTO, emphasized the company’s focus on embedding AI seamlessly within existing healthcare workflows rather than disrupting them. This integration-first philosophy, he said, ensures that emerging large language model (LLM) technologies can be deployed safely and effectively in real-world clinical environments.
Fourier’s clinician-in-the-loop network of specialist reviewers ensures accuracy, safety, and continuous model refinement. This unique model allows Fourier to combine the efficiency of AI automation with the quality assurance of human oversight—an approach designed to increase clinician trust and improve patient outcomes.
Before founding Fourier Health, Lloyd served as Co-Founder and CTO of Redox Health, a leading healthcare interoperability platform integrated with over 9,000 healthcare systems and 120 EHRs. Lee previously co-founded InfiniteMD, an expert medical opinion platform featuring over 3,500 specialists, which was acquired by Alight in 2021.
Fourier Health’s new funding underscores investor confidence in its potential to redefine how healthcare providers manage and act on unstructured data. By enabling faster patient onboarding, reducing administrative strain, and improving information accessibility, the company aims to deliver measurable improvements in care coordination and efficiency.
KEY QUOTES:
“Unstructured data in clinical care needs to be reimagined. The inefficiencies that plague scattered patient data, especially when providers waste so much time synthesizing it into something useful, are solvable. We’re applying domain-specific artificial intelligence to tackle these pain points directly: providing last-mile LLM-enablement and specialty-specific customizations, truly allowing clinicians to do what they do best. We’re incredibly grateful for the support, especially from investors that deeply believe in our mission as we continue to serve healthcare professionals and patients better.”
Christopher Lee, Co-Founder and CEO, Fourier Health
“Recent advancements in AI and LLM technologies have unlocked a world of new possibilities, yet the secret to making these truly useful and safe for patients and providers is to seamlessly embed these technologies within the existing data streams and workflows in health systems. Our team brings the healthcare industry experience with the technical expertise to make this happen.”
James Lloyd, Co-Founder and CTO, Fourier Health
“We’re incredibly excited to be supporting Fourier Health in their vision to streamline patient onboarding and increase access to specialized care. Fourier is setting the standard for how AI can be applied in healthcare to reduce administrative burden and reduce time to treatment for the patients most in need of care.”
