Foxen: Interview With CEO Kevin Jacobson On Renters Insurance Compliance And Rent Reporting Technology For The Multifamily Industry

By Amit Chowdhry • Dec 3, 2025

Foxen is a company that provides insurance-compliance and financial-wellness solutions for multifamily property owners by automating renters-insurance monitoring, offering liability-waiver programs, and enabling residents to build credit through rent reporting. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Foxen CEO Kevin Jacobson to gain a deeper understanding of the company.

Kevin Jacobson’s Background

Could you tell me more about your background? Jacobson said:

“I started my career in investment banking and venture capital, which gave me a deep understanding of how to build businesses that deliver value. That gave me an interesting perspective when I moved into operator roles in the tech industry. My first executive role was CFO of an event tech company called Kapow where I led the business back to growth and through its acquisition by Cvent. Next, I served as COO of LogicGate, a governance risk and compliance platform, where we grew ARR to more than 10x, raised over $150 million, and achieved best-in-class SaaS retention. More recently, I was appointed CEO of Foxen in September 2025 after serving as President and COO over the last three years.”

“In addition to that, I’m a Midwest native based in Columbus, Ohio, and I am closely involved in the tech ecosystem as an executive and advisor. I love helping teams build great companies and always welcome connecting with others doing the same.”

Origin Story

What’s Foxen’s origin story? Jacobson shared:

“The multifamily industry has had an ongoing problem of managing renters insurance compliance and property-level risk. The process was fragmented and frustrating for everyone involved. Properties lacked real-time visibility, while residents often experienced lapses in coverage putting properties at risk, and onsite teams were overwhelmed by administrative tasks that pulled them away from serving their communities.”

“Our founders, who were property owner/operators themselves, built Foxen to solve that. Our renters insurance compliance management solution is an AI-powered platform that provides 24/7, 365 monitoring and near instant COI verification to guarantee 100% renters insurance compliance. This reduces risk and protects properties from potential out of pocket costs for resident caused damage while also driving revenue for properties by auto-enrolling residents into a property damage liability waiver program when they experience a lapse in coverage.”

“There was an immediate and real need in the market for our Waiver solution, and a few years later we added Rentistry. We saw an opportunity to empower renters to build and enhance their credit by enabling them to report their rent payments to all three credit bureaus. This helps residents build credit and financial wellness while ensuring timely payments for properties.”

“More recently, we added PetClear, our pet management solution, to our product suite. We will continue to add new solutions that solve complicated, high-stakes parts of property management in order to make them simple and hands-off for property management. By reducing risk, increasing asset value, and removing operational burden, we help both properties and their residents seamlessly drive compliance.”

Favorite Memory

What has been your favorite memory working for the company so far? Jacobson reflected:

“It’s hard to choose a single moment, because my favorite memories come from a pattern I see again and again. It’s when someone joins the company excited to build something meaningful, quickly digs in, identifies challenges, and works with others to solve them. Watching talented people collaborate, grow, and take pride in the impact they’re making, for each other and for our customers, is incredibly rewarding. What motivates me most is seeing individuals given real opportunities to stretch themselves and reach their potential. Not every workplace creates that environment, and I don’t take it for granted. When people are trusted to tackle hard things and supported along the way, you see their confidence rise, the team strengthens, and the company moves forward. Those moments—seeing potential turn into progress, and progress turn into shared wins—are what give me energy and keep me optimistic about where we’re headed.”

Core Products

What are the company’s core products and features? Jacobson explained:

“Our core products are compliance-oriented solutions designed to make property management easier, reduce risk, generate revenue, and provide the best possible resident experience.”

“Foxen Waiver puts renters insurance compliance on autopilot with AI-enabled, 24/7, 365 monitoring. If a lapse in coverage occurs, residents are automatically enrolled in a Property Damage Liability Waiver Program, protecting properties while generating ancillary revenue.”

Rentistry helps residents build and improve their credit by reporting on-time rent payments to the three major credit bureaus, while also giving properties a unique amenity and revenue opportunity.”

PetClear, our newest solution launched in September 2025, streamlines pet policy management; simplifying compliance, mitigating risk and creating a more transparent experience for residents.”

“For owners exploring self-insurance, WaiverCell and WaiverFlex extend core waiver benefits to those looking to create a  protected cell captive or use third-party captive setups.”

Challenges Faced

Have you faced any challenges in your sector of work recently? Jacobson acknowledged:

“The multifamily sector is facing a number of challenges right now. Resident retention has become critical as the value of lease renewals grows, residents are expecting more transparency around fees and a more seamless renting experience overall. At the same time, property management teams are under increasing pressure, dealing with heavier workloads and complex, varying regulations across states and localities.”

“Foxen tackles these challenges by building solutions that remove administrative burden from property teams while enhancing the resident experience. Our AI-driven renters insurance compliance, rent reporting and pet management solutions automate tedious processes, ensure consistency and create real value for properties and their residents — making it easier for properties to retain tenants, streamline operations and stay ahead of evolving expectations.”

Evolution Of The Company’s Technology

How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Jacobson noted:

“We are constantly evolving by listening closely to our customers and solving the real problems they face with tech-forward solutions. By understanding the frustrations and pain points of both property teams and residents, we’ve been able to build solutions that simplify complex processes and create new revenue opportunities — all without adding operational overhead.”

“We prioritize seamless integrations with all major property management software (PMS), which has allowed us to scale quickly across the multifamily sector.”

“We’ve also incorporated AI in thoughtful ways including document processing for COI uploads that provide residents feedback on their proof of insurance in minutes instead of days. We are continuing to explore new ways to build AI into our solutions to provide frictionless experiences for properties and residents.”

Significant Milestones

What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Jacobson cited:

“One of Foxen’s most exciting recent milestones was the launch of PetClear, our newest solution for simplifying pet policy management. This was a product our customers had been asking for as property owners and operators struggle to balance fairness for residents with disabilities while also preventing ESA fraud. In our recent Multifamily Pet Management Trends report 75% of professionals said the frequency of residents with emotional support animals has increased over the past five years, and more than half (53%) believe animal misrepresentation has become more frequent. PetClear addresses these challenges by centralizing pet information, allowing properties to enforce policies consistently, integrating seamlessly with property management software, and providing support to both residents and property teams.”

“With PetClear, Foxen now has three strong compliance-oriented solution pillars: renters insurance compliance, rent reporting and credit building, and pet policy management — all designed to reduce risk, drive revenue and make operations easier. The launch of PetClear further signified our mission of creating stronger communities where residents feel welcome, property teams feel supported and owners see results.”

Customer Success Stories

Can you share any specific customer success stories? Jacobson highlighted:

“Sure – we have several. A good example is Nicol Investment Company who partnered with Foxen to overhaul its renters insurance compliance program. We implemented and rolled out our WaiverCore program in under three months across 12 properties and 3,000+ units. The results have been transformative: Nicol generated over $20,000 in new revenue in just the first six months by boosting program enrollment and they’ve had zero uninsured renter incidents since implementing Waiver two years ago. Foxen’s coverage has also protected Nicol from risk by covering more than $275,000 in claims—turning what was once a compliance challenge into a powerful NOI-driving asset.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates the company from its competition? Jacobson affirmed:

“What sets Foxen apart is that we actively solve problems property teams face every day. We’re a platform with a clear focus on compliance-oriented solutions that drive results and positive experiences for everyone involved in multifamily rental communities. By solving complex problems with simple, easy-to-use solutions, we create new revenue streams for properties while keeping operations lean. With our solutions integrating across all PMS, we have strong adoption across the multifamily industry and drive retention that’s hard for competitors to replicate. This combined with an unmatched focus on customer experience is hard to replicate.”

“In addition to being backed by Summit Partners and Level Equity, we are guided by a leadership team with deep experience in technology, insurance, and property management. We’ve been very intentional about where we focus and it shows in the impact of our solutions.”

Future Company Goals

What are some of the company’s future goals? Jacobson emphasized:

“Looking ahead, Foxen’s goal is to continue evolving our platform to create even more value for both property teams and their residents. Future solutions will include advanced AI-driven verification capabilities and expanded service offerings that further simplify operations, reduce risk, generate revenue, and provide real value for residents.”
