FreshDirect announced that, through an affiliate, it has secured a $100 million commercial mortgage loan from UBS. The financing is designed to strengthen the online grocer’s capital position and provide additional resources to support the company’s next phase of expansion and long-term strategic initiatives.

According to FreshDirect, the new funding will be directed toward investments in technology, artificial intelligence capabilities, and operational enhancements to improve the customer experience and increase efficiency across its platform. The company plans to use the capital to modernize its infrastructure, accelerate innovation, and further optimize its supply chain and fulfillment operations in response to evolving consumer preferences and growing demand for online grocery services.

Founded in 2002 and headquartered in the Bronx, New York, FreshDirect has become one of the leading online grocery retailers in the Northeast. The company serves customers throughout the New York tri-state area and offers a selection of more than 12,000 products, including fresh produce, seafood, meat, prepared foods, specialty items, and national grocery brands. FreshDirect works directly with farmers, growers, fishermen, and suppliers to source products and maintain quality standards while emphasizing responsible sourcing practices and support for local communities.

The financing comes as FreshDirect continues to focus on expanding its capabilities and strengthening its market position in the highly competitive grocery delivery sector. By investing in advanced technologies and AI-driven solutions, the company aims to improve personalization, streamline operations, and enhance overall service for customers. FreshDirect said these investments are intended to support sustainable growth while reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality food and a convenient shopping experience to households across the region.
