Fried Frank has expanded its Asset Management M&A capabilities with the addition of Saif I. Shah Mohammed as a partner in the firm’s Washington, DC office. Mohammed brings more than 15 years of corporate transactional experience and joins the firm’s market-leading Asset Management M&A Practice, further strengthening its depth in GP-led and sponsor-focused transactions.

Mohammed advises clients across a broad range of complex corporate and asset management transactions. His experience includes GP stakes sales, GP-led secondaries, GP and fund-level preferred equity transactions, seeding arrangements, asset manager mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, firm governance matters, and GP economic arrangements. He also advises on sponsor-side restructurings, equity arrangements, and spinouts, areas that closely align with Fried Frank’s asset management and private equity-focused transactional work.

The hire reflects Fried Frank’s continued investment in its M&A and private equity platform amid sustained growth in asset management M&A activity. Mohammed’s arrival is intended to enhance the firm’s GP seed and stakes capabilities and support clients across a wide spectrum of asset classes as alternative investment managers pursue strategic capital, liquidity solutions, and platform expansion.

Mohammed joins Fried Frank following a year of significant lateral partner growth. Since the beginning of the year, the firm has added 13 lateral partners across its transactional and contentious practices. His addition follows a series of global M&A and private equity hires, including the recent London-based team of Christian Iwasko, Michelle Tong, and Priya Rupal, each of whom brings deep transactional experience.

Fried Frank’s M&A and Private Equity Practice comprises more than 130 lawyers worldwide and advises public and private companies, private equity sponsors, investment banks, and alternative asset managers on a wide range of transactions. As asset management M&A activity continues to expand, the firm advises clients on strategic investments spanning initial fundraising, tax structuring, regulatory considerations, transaction execution, liquidity events, and exit strategies.
