Fundamental, an AI company focused on predictive intelligence from enterprise data, announced it has emerged from stealth with $255 million in funding and has publicly launched its most powerful Large Tabular Model (LTM), called NEXUS.
Founded in October 2024, the company said it raised a $30 million seed round and a $225 million Series A round led by Oak HC/FT, with participation from Valor Equity Partners, Battery Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and Hetz Ventures. Fundamental also cited angel investors, including Perplexity co-founder and CEO Aravind Srinivas, Wiz co-founder and CEO Assaf Rappaport, Brex co-founder Henrique Dubugras, and Datadog co-founder and CEO Olivier Pomel.
The company said the new capital will be used to scale compute, expand enterprise deployments, and grow the team across research, engineering, and go-to-market functions. Fundamental is positioning NEXUS as a general-purpose foundation model designed to handle the billions of tables underlying forecasting and decision-making across enterprises, with the goal of improving predictions for use cases such as demand forecasting, price prediction, and customer churn.
Alongside the public launch, Fundamental announced a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services to accelerate adoption and scale deployment. The company said AWS customers can buy and deploy NEXUS within their AWS environment via the AWS dashboard, with support from AWS infrastructure. Fundamental also said it has secured seven-figure contracts with Fortune 100 enterprises applying the model to predictive use cases.
Fundamental framed its approach as addressing a gap in deep learning for structured data, arguing that much of the recent progress in AI has focused on models optimized for unstructured and sequential data, while tabular data in enterprise settings remains difficult to handle at enterprise scale due to size and dimensionality constraints. Fundamental said NEXUS is trained on billions of tabular datasets, was trained on Amazon SageMaker HyperPod, and is designed to learn underlying structure and dependencies from raw tabular data without extensive feature engineering or manual training. The company also said enterprises can integrate NEXUS into existing data stacks with minimal effort, often with a single line of code, and deploy on any cloud infrastructure.
