Fundraise Up has introduced Agentic Giving, a new category describing how artificial intelligence could change the way donors discover nonprofit organizations, evaluate causes and complete donations.
The company announced the concept during the Bridge to Integrated Marketing & Fundraising Conference, where Fundraise Up CEO and Co-Founder Peter Byrnes said donors could increasingly delegate parts of the giving process to trusted AI assistants.
Under the traditional digital fundraising model, donors search for an organization, visit its website, locate a donation form and complete the transaction themselves. Agentic Giving envisions donors instead telling an AI assistant which causes they care about and allowing the system to identify relevant organizations, compare options and complete or recommend a donation.
Fundraise Up said this transition could move digital fundraising from navigation to delegation. In more advanced cases, an AI assistant could discover a nonprofit, confirm the donor’s intent and enable an authorized agent to complete the gift without the donor visiting the organization’s website or opening a donation form.
The shift could also change how nonprofits approach online visibility. Traditional search engines rank organizations based partly on discoverability, while AI assistants synthesize information from websites, annual reports, news coverage and partner pages.
Fundraise Up warned that nonprofits with inconsistent or unclear information may not simply appear lower in search results. They could be excluded entirely from an AI assistant’s recommendations.
The company is investing in infrastructure that helps AI systems understand a nonprofit’s current campaigns and securely move from confirmed donor intent to an authorized donation.
Fundraise Up is also developing permission-based AI tools that allow nonprofit employees to interact with fundraising data using natural language.
A third area of investment involves conversational fundraising formats, including an AI fundraiser within Fundraise Up’s peer-to-peer product that can explain campaigns and answer donor questions.
Fundraise Up is not yet announcing specific Agentic Giving products or launch dates. The company is initially defining the category and helping nonprofit organizations prepare for a donor experience shaped increasingly by AI assistants.
Founded in 2017, Fundraise Up provides an AI-powered fundraising platform used by nonprofit organizations including The Salvation Army UK, USO and the American Diabetes Association.
KEY QUOTES:
“Today, a donor comes to your website, finds your donation form, completes a gift. Tomorrow, a donor tells their AI assistant what they care about. It finds your organization, compares it against others, and completes or proposes the gift on their behalf. The donor is the same. The gift is the same. What changes is everything in between.”
“Agentic Giving is the next evolution of donor experience. The form was never the destination. It was the best interface donors had. Now the interface is changing. And the organizations that make it easy for donors to find them, understand them, trust them and give to them will be the ones that see exponential fundraising growth.”
