Futu Holdings recently reported a sharp increase in investor activity during the second quarter of 2026, with trading volume reaching a record level and its margin financing and securities lending balance nearly doubling year-over-year.

Total trading volume jumped 78.8% to HK$6.42 trillion. U.S. stocks represented HK$5.02 trillion of that activity, while Hong Kong equities accounted for HK$1.17 trillion.

U.S. stock trading volume increased 67.2% sequentially, driven by client interest in semiconductor companies and other businesses tied to the artificial intelligence value chain.

Overall trading volume increased 54.6% from the first quarter.

At the same time, Futu’s margin financing and securities lending balance surged 85.1% year-over-year to HK$95.1 billion, or roughly $12.1 billion. The balance increased another 30.5% sequentially as an active Hong Kong IPO market and stronger investor sentiment drove greater leverage utilization.

Client assets increased 43.6% to HK$1.4 trillion, while funded accounts climbed 33.6% to 3.84 million. Futu added approximately 252,000 net new funded accounts during the quarter, with Malaysia leading additions for the third consecutive quarter.

The increased activity translated into substantial financial growth.

Revenue rose 35.6% to $918.2 million. Brokerage commission and handling income increased 30.3% to $428.5 million, while interest income increased 36.5% to $398.3 million, primarily because of higher income from margin financing and bank deposits.

Operating income increased 33.5% to $569.2 million, and net income jumped 41.6% to $464.4 million. Net income margin improved to 50.6% from 48.4%.

Futu’s expanding international reach is also helping diversify growth beyond Hong Kong. The company recently launched Moomoo Prediction Markets in the U.S. and obtained a license to expand into Thailand.
