G2 announced it has formally agreed to acquire Capterra, Software Advice, and GetApp from Gartner, a deal that would combine four major B2B software review and discovery platforms under one owner as software buying increasingly shifts toward AI-driven search and recommendation experiences.
The company said the combination is intended to deepen the data foundation behind software discovery, evaluation, and purchasing by bringing together the properties’ audiences and review datasets. G2 said the combined platforms would encompass about 6 million verified customer reviews, reach more than 200 million annual software buyers globally across the properties, serve more than 10,000 software vendors with marketing solutions, and span roughly 2,000 software and service categories.
G2 said it plans to integrate data and offerings from Capterra, Software Advice, and GetApp into its platform, including expanded first- and second-party buyer-intent data. The company also said the larger footprint would support more AI-driven recommendations for buyers through G2.ai and strengthen vendor demand generation by expanding visibility across traditional search and AI-driven discovery, alongside a more mature digital advertising infrastructure.
G2 said the unified dataset could deliver up to three times more buyer-intent signals and enable a new pay-per-lead offering to convert intent into sales-ready leads at a global scale.
The company also positioned the expanded dataset as a resource for partners, investors, and consultants seeking data-backed market insights for integrations, targeting, and research. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
