GALLO announced that it has completed its acquisition of Four Roses Bourbon from Kirin Holdings, bringing the historic American whiskey brand back under U.S. family ownership for the first time in more than eight decades. The transaction marks a significant expansion of GALLO’s presence in premium spirits while reinforcing Four Roses’ legacy and global growth trajectory.
Founded in 1888, Four Roses is widely recognized for its distinctive approach to bourbon-making, combining two mash bills with five proprietary yeast strains to create ten unique recipes. The brand has built a strong reputation in the premium whiskey category and is currently distributed in more than 80 countries.
As part of the acquisition, GALLO emphasized that it will maintain continuity across Four Roses’ operations, including production, personnel, and brand identity. The existing leadership team will remain in place, including Master Distiller Brent Elliott, ensuring consistency in craftsmanship and quality.
The deal also strengthens GALLO’s international footprint, particularly in Europe and Japan, where Four Roses already has an established presence. GALLO plans to invest in further brand development through innovation, expanded distribution, and increased engagement with consumers and trade partners.
Kirin Holdings, which has owned Four Roses for several decades, played a key role in repositioning the brand as a premium bourbon in the U.S. market. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. UBS Investment Bank served as financial advisor to Kirin, while Jefferies advised GALLO.
