Garmin Acquires TrainingPeaks And TrainHeroic To Expand Athlete Coaching Ecosystem

Garmin has acquired TrainingPeaks and TrainHeroic, two digital training platforms that connect athletes with coaches and provide structured programs, performance data and training insights. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition expands Garmin’s fitness ecosystem across endurance, strength and performance training. It is intended to provide Garmin users with more customizable coaching experiences across different ability levels and stages of their fitness journeys.

TrainingPeaks is widely used by endurance athletes and coaches to plan, track and analyze training. TrainHeroic focuses primarily on strength and conditioning programs for individual athletes, teams and coaching organizations.

Adding the platforms could allow Garmin to more closely connect data collected through its wearable devices with structured training plans and professional coaching. The combination may also help coaches monitor athlete performance, adjust programs and provide more personalized guidance.

TrainingPeaks and TrainHeroic are owned by Peaksware Holdings and are headquartered in Louisville, Colorado. Approximately 120 employees from the two platforms will join Garmin’s global workforce following the acquisition.

Garmin operates across the fitness, outdoor, aviation, automotive and marine technology markets. The acquisition broadens its software and services capabilities beyond wearable devices while strengthening its relationships with athletes and professional coaches.
