Garmin announced it has acquired a hangar and office complex at Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Arizona, to expand its capacity for aircraft certification and flight test operations as part of its continued investment in its aviation segment.

The new facility includes two adjacent hangars totaling approximately 75,000 square feet, along with office space designed to accommodate around 75 associates. Located at Mesa Gateway Airport, which features three parallel runways, including two exceeding 10,000 feet in length, the site offers robust infrastructure and generally clear weather conditions year-round, making it well-suited for flight operations.

The Mesa location joins Garmin’s existing flight operations centers in New Century, Kansas, and Salem, Oregon. Mesa Gateway Airport is also home to numerous aviation companies, including customer support and service centers for three major aircraft manufacturers, underscoring the location’s strategic value.

Garmin has maintained a presence in the Phoenix area for more than 25 years. The company initially operated a facility in Tempe before relocating to a larger site in Chandler. In 2019, Garmin expanded further into Scottsdale following its acquisition of AeroData. The proximity of these facilities is expected to provide additional support and infrastructure as Garmin grows its aviation operations. The new Mesa facility will enable the company to hire experienced associates for engineering, aircraft airworthiness approvals, and flight test teams.

Garmin products and services are widely used across general aviation, business aviation, rotorcraft, advanced air mobility, government and defense, and commercial air carrier markets. The company received the Robert J. Collier Trophy for Garmin Autoland, the first certified autonomous system designed to activate during an emergency to control and land an aircraft without human intervention.

Garmin International Inc. is a subsidiary of Garmin Ltd., which is incorporated in Switzerland with principal subsidiaries located in the United States, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. Shares of Garmin Ltd. trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol GRMN.
