GE HealthCare has completed its acquisition of Intelerad, a medical imaging software provider, in a deal valued at approximately $2.3 billion in cash, as the company accelerates its push into cloud-first and AI-enabled healthcare solutions.
The transaction strengthens GE HealthCare’s enterprise imaging portfolio by adding Intelerad’s software capabilities and customer base across ambulatory, teleradiology, and hospital settings. The combined offering is designed to create an end-to-end imaging ecosystem that improves workflow efficiency, reduces infrastructure costs, and enables faster deployment of imaging solutions.
Intelerad will now operate within GE HealthCare’s Imaging business, continuing to serve customers across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Oceania. The acquisition aligns with GE HealthCare’s broader D3 strategy, which focuses on developing disease-specific solutions powered by digital technologies, cloud infrastructure, and artificial intelligence.
Financially, GE HealthCare expects Intelerad to generate about $270 million in revenue in its first full year under ownership, with roughly 90% of that revenue recurring and EBITDA margins exceeding 30%. The company anticipates that the acquisition will contribute to top-line growth and improve operating margins over time, although it may be slightly dilutive to earnings per share in the short term due to financing costs.
The deal is also expected to increase GE HealthCare’s mix of recurring revenue and support long-term profitability, with a projected high-single-digit return on invested capital within five years.
