GE HealthCare has awarded a grant to Lewy Body Dementia Association to support a series of educational initiatives focused on Lewy body dementia in 2026. The funding will advance three key programs aimed at improving awareness, diagnosis, and care for individuals living with the disease, as well as supporting caregivers and healthcare professionals.
The first initiative, the 2026 Community Webinar Series, will deliver monthly sessions that combine clinical expertise, scientific research, and patient and caregiver perspectives. The program is designed to provide practical insights, expand access to resources, and foster collaboration across the medical and patient communities.
The second initiative, the Centers of Care pilot program, will focus on improving diagnosis accuracy and promoting integrated, holistic care. It will provide healthcare teams with tools and educational resources to better manage the complexities of Lewy body dementia and support families navigating the condition.
The third initiative, the Lewy Care Kit, will offer a free, comprehensive set of resources aimed at helping families and healthcare providers manage day-to-day challenges and improve patient safety, particularly during hospital stays.
Lewy body dementia is the second most common form of neurodegenerative dementia in the United States, affecting an estimated 1.4 million people. Despite its prevalence, the condition is often underdiagnosed or misunderstood, creating significant challenges for patients and caregivers.
Since launching in 2024, the Lewy Body Dementia Association’s webinar series has reached more than 21,000 participants. The new grant will expand the program’s reach and support the development of additional educational resources, with a shared goal of enabling earlier diagnosis and improving patient outcomes.
