GE Vernova has named Rivian Chief Financial Officer Claire McDonough as its next CFO as the energy technology company prepares for the retirement of its first CFO, Ken Parks.
McDonough will join GE Vernova in November 2026 and officially assume the CFO role on January 1, 2027.
Parks will remain CFO through the end of 2026, including the company’s third- and fourth-quarter earnings calls and preparation of its 2026 Form 10-K. He will then move into a Strategic Advisor position during the first quarter of 2027 before retiring in April.
McDonough has served as Rivian’s CFO since 2021.
During her tenure, she helped guide the electric vehicle manufacturer through its initial public offering and has managed several complex multibillion-dollar initiatives, including Rivian’s joint venture with Volkswagen Group.
Her responsibilities at Rivian extend beyond traditional finance.
McDonough oversees financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, tax and investor relations while also leading corporate and business development, strategy, vehicle maintenance and repairs, facilities and the company’s charging network.
That blend of capital markets and operating experience is a major factor behind GE Vernova’s selection.
CEO Scott Strazik said McDonough brings both financial sophistication and hands-on operational leadership as GE Vernova continues pursuing profitable growth.
Before joining Rivian, McDonough was a Managing Director in investment banking and co-head of the Disruptive Commerce Group at J.P. Morgan.
She previously held financial leadership positions at Fairway Market and Credit Suisse.
McDonough has also served on AutoZone’s board since 2025. She earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
