Generac Expands Commercial And Industrial Manufacturing Footprint With New Sussex, Wisconsin Facility

Generac Holdings announced it has acquired a new manufacturing facility in Sussex, Wisconsin, expanding capacity for its Commercial & Industrial (C&I) product line as demand rises for large-scale backup power and broader energy solutions, particularly from data centers.

The company said the Sussex site will add manufacturing flexibility and increase output for large-megawatt generators, complementing Generac’s broader manufacturing investments in Wisconsin, including a new plant in Beaver Dam and expanded operations in Oshkosh. Generac said its C&I business has delivered strong year-over-year growth in recent quarters and that it is scaling production to meet rising demand across multiple industrial verticals.

Generac positioned the expansion as a response to rapid data center growth, citing projections that global data center capacity demand could more than triple by 2030. The company said its entry into the data center segment has been supported by expanding its global product portfolio to include large-megawatt generators, which are increasingly required to meet the reliability and scale needs of data center operators.

Generac also said it has seen increasing customer interest from the data center market since broadening its product lineup, including a doubling of its order backlog that it previously discussed on its third-quarter earnings call in October. The added Sussex capacity is expected to support both new demand from data centers and existing C&I backup power markets that require large-megawatt equipment, including healthcare, hospitality, wastewater and water utilities, and heavy industrial facilities.

The Sussex facility is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2026 and will add more than 100 manufacturing jobs. Generac also highlighted its international C&I manufacturing footprint, noting it operates nine facilities across Mexico, Europe, Asia, and South America.

Generac, founded in 1959, describes itself as a total energy solutions provider offering power generation equipment, energy storage systems, and energy management products for residential, light commercial, and industrial markets.
