Generac Holdings announced it has signed a global supply agreement with a leading hyperscale data center operator to provide backup power generators for the company’s data center infrastructure.
The agreement marks a significant milestone for Generac’s Commercial & Industrial business as demand for data center power infrastructure continues to accelerate worldwide, driven by cloud computing, artificial intelligence workloads, and the expansion of digital services. Under the agreement, Generac will supply large megawatt backup power generators designed to ensure uninterrupted operations for mission-critical data center facilities.
The contract was awarded following an extensive qualification process that included factory visits, performance evaluations, quality system reviews, and audits across Generac’s supplier network. The company said the agreement reinforces its position as a major provider of backup power solutions for large-scale data center operators.
Data centers serve as critical infrastructure supporting banking, healthcare, transportation, emergency response systems, and other digital services. Backup power systems play a vital role in maintaining operations during grid outages, severe weather events, and periods of elevated power demand.
Generac has recently expanded its capabilities in the data center market through a series of strategic initiatives. These include a collaboration with EPC Power to deliver integrated energy solutions for data center applications globally and the acquisition of Enercon, which added expertise in generator enclosures and switchgear for mission-critical environments.
The company has also continued investing in manufacturing and operational capacity across its facilities in Beaver Dam, Oshkosh, and Sussex, Wisconsin, while expanding capabilities throughout Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. These investments are intended to support growing global demand for data center infrastructure and backup power systems.
Generac said it has already delivered energy solutions for major colocation data center projects around the world and expects the new agreement to further strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding digital infrastructure sector.
