General Intuition has raised $220 million at a $6.2 billion valuation as the AI company begins making its foundation models available to customers. The company is developing models trained on billions of action-labeled videos that are designed to act in real time in environments they have not previously encountered.
The financing included Valor Equity Partners, Atreides, 776, Point72, Khosla Ventures, and General Catalyst. General Intuition plans to expand its team in New York and Europe as it scales development and commercialization of its models.
General Intuition is developing what it describes as a new class of foundation models focused on actions, physical environments, robotics, and world modeling, rather than models trained primarily on text or static internet data.
A major component of its data advantage comes from Medal, the gaming video platform. General Intuition said leading robotics and world models are currently trained on less than 1% of the amount of action data it can potentially access through Medal.
Medal is on track to reach approximately 3 billion uploaded videos annually, giving General Intuition access to large volumes of human behavior and action data generated in interactive simulated environments.
The company argues that gaming environments provide particularly useful training data because users routinely encounter unpredictable situations and respond to them in real time. General Intuition said that on a typical day its simulated environments contain more accidents than occur across the entire United States.
The company is using that scale to develop General Agents and World Models capable of responding to unusual and difficult-to-predict events.
The latest round gives General Intuition additional capital to expand model training, increase compute capacity, grow its research organization, and begin making its technology available more broadly.
