Generali Asset Management (GenAM) has announced proposed leadership changes aimed at reinforcing its executive structure and accelerating its global expansion among institutional and pension clients.
The company revealed that its Nomination Committee has proposed the appointment of Russell Büsst as incoming Chief Executive Officer. At the same time, Filippo Casagrande has been nominated to assume a newly created General Manager role, designed to further strengthen the organization’s leadership framework.
Both appointments remain subject to customary corporate approvals and are expected to take effect following the conclusion of current CEO Bruno Servant’s mandate at the end of April 2026.
Russell Büsst currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer for the European operations of Conning, part of Generali Investments. In that role, he oversees corporate governance, portfolio management, and investment strategy decision-making. His proposed appointment is aligned with GenAM’s objective to expand its presence among global third-party institutional clients and grow its insurance and pension asset management franchise.
Filippo Casagrande, currently Chief of Investments at Generali Investments, has been with the organization since 2009 and has held several senior leadership roles within the investment function. Since March 2025, he has also served as Chair of Generali Investments Luxembourg. Casagrande has played a key role in shaping investment strategies and overseeing asset allocation, and his appointment is expected to bring strong managerial expertise and deep institutional knowledge to the newly created position.
The introduction of the General Manager role reflects GenAM’s intention to enhance operational execution and governance as the company continues to scale its platform and client base globally.
