Gibson Dunn announced that restructuring lawyer Matthew Roose will join the firm’s New York office as a partner in its Business Restructuring and Reorganization Practice Group. Roose brings significant experience representing ad hoc groups of creditors in Chapter 11 cases, liability management exercises, and out-of-court restructurings.

The addition strengthens Gibson Dunn’s creditor-side restructuring capabilities as liability management activity and complex capital structures continue to drive demand for sophisticated restructuring counsel. The firm said Roose’s experience spans special situations, distressed acquisitions, and both in-court and out-of-court restructuring processes.

Gibson Dunn’s Business Restructuring and Reorganization Practice Group is recognized for advising on large-scale restructurings across the U.S. and Europe. The firm noted that the practice has consistently ranked highly in Debtwire and Octus league tables for creditor-side engagements and restructuring advisory mandates.

Roose’s arrival continues the firm’s recent expansion of its restructuring platform, following the additions of partners Leo Plank, Eugene Park, Andrew Cheng, Chris Howard, and Presley Warner.

Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Roose was a partner at another international law firm.
