Global Engine Group And Angkasa-X Partner On Space-to-AI Edge Infrastructure Platform In Malaysia

Global Engine Group Holding Limited (GLE) and Angkasa-X Holdings Corp. have entered into a strategic collaboration agreement to jointly advance a “Space-to-AI” digital infrastructure platform in Sarawak, Malaysia.

The agreement builds on a non-binding memorandum of understanding signed by the companies in May 2026 and marks an expansion of GLE’s strategy beyond traditional information and communications technology infrastructure into artificial intelligence, edge computing and space-based data capabilities.

The collaboration will support the Sarawak “Space-to-AI Edge PoC” project, which is expected to include Angkasa-X ground stations connected to an edge data center in Sarawak. The Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation team is also expected to participate in project operations.

The project is designed to demonstrate an integrated infrastructure architecture in which raw satellite data from Angkasa-X and partner satellites can be downloaded directly to ground stations in Sarawak and then stored and processed locally at the Sarawak-based edge data center.

Under the agreement, Angkasa-X will construct, operate and maintain the ground station and edge data center. GLE will provide data center design and operational consulting while collaborating with SDEC on the joint operation and maintenance of the edge data center.

The companies will also conduct feasibility studies and establish proof-of-concept success criteria within 180 days of the agreement’s effective date. The proof of concept is targeted for completion in October 2027.

The partners believe the platform could help Sarawak develop into a regional Space-to-AI infrastructure hub for ASEAN by enabling satellite information to be received, processed and analyzed locally.

Potential applications identified by Angkasa-X include agriculture, natural resources, maritime security, carbon intelligence and disaster resilience. The company also believes local processing could reduce latency and strengthen data sovereignty.

The initiative is aligned with Angkasa-X’s broader strategy of developing what it describes as an “equatorial space highway” and offering Satellite-as-a-Service capabilities that convert satellite-derived data into commercial applications.

For GLE, the collaboration represents another step in its expansion into AI infrastructure and space computing. The Hong Kong-headquartered company provides ICT solutions, technical services and project management services.

GLE shares rose 27.32% to $0.4930 in the TradingView market snapshot accompanying the announcement and were up another 5.44% to $0.5198 in post-market trading.

KEY QUOTES:
